Grounded

The young tendril, wrapping around, clings to the post it climbs. Seeking light, bathing in rain; it’s life to us, so mundane.

Rooted in earth, going nowhere, we wonder how can it be so happy there.

Yet, as we scurry about, nothing binding our feet, it thinks how happy it is not to be so free.

Because Of You

It seems like a million years ago, as my memories begin to fade. Even with you still beside me, grown with a life of your own, I just can’t help but miss those days—those once in a lifetime days…

Those Polaroids; uncaptured: The first time I heard your cry, letting me know you were here. The first time meeting you and seeing that smooshed little face. The first time I held you in my arms and counted your toes, while you held my hand. The first time of lying there, just you and me, realizing that you were mine; all mine. The first time I knew that life made sense; yet, it suddenly scared me half to death. The first time I knew….

Because of you, I’m a better me. You helped me grow and to believe. To evolve in love and find new hope. You taught me patience and sacrifice; wrapped in grace. You gave me life outside my own; making the stars shine brighter than ever before.

These years have flown; like a magic carpet ride. You were born; my spirt sparked to life. Together we grew and dreamed new dreams. You helped me see this ol’ world through your child eyes.

So, thank you for this journey that you’ve shared with me. And, while there are no stills or black and whites to stir my memory; that’s okay. My peace is painted with all the true colors in between.

Because of you, my gift of wonder, I will always know…how beautiful this life can be.

You’re Special

A garden of beauty

Growing wild in the fields

Their colors and enticing scents abound

To each their own

As they burst in bloom

That’s where their uniqueness dwells

They are who and what you see

So, be like them; be you, not me.
